Tiki Kon 2014 Call for Vendors

PORTLAND, OR (March 7, 2014) — Tiki Kon, the Pacific Northwest's Polynesian pop extravaganza, has released its 2014 Vendor Kit and is accepting vendor applications for this year's event. The organizers seek unique, high quality, non-food products that fit the event's themes of tiki culture, undersea adventure, tropical climates, nautical ephemera, and vintage fashion and design. The deadline to apply is May 15, 2014.

The Tiki Kon event is held at the Red Lion at the Quay, in Vancouver, Washington, July 11-13, 2014. Since some of the activities take guests off-property on Friday and Sunday, all vending occurs on Saturday, July 12. A weekend's worth of vending is compressed into a single day, allowing vendors to relax and enjoy the rest of the festivities.

Sellers have the option of setting up shop in the Island Marketplace, in the hotel's main ballroom during the day, or signing up for room vending in one of the premium rooms that encircle the Saturday night main stage. Mobile vending is also offered for vendors whose products are small and easily carried, like cigarette girls in nightclubs.

Vending at Tiki Kon is a great opportunity for artists, craftsmen and small businesses to promote themselves, drive sales and interact with customers in a new and exciting way. This year's event is sure to draw a larger crowd of shoppers than ever, and vending space is limited. Applications are reviewed and accepted by a panel of Tiki Kon organizers, with criteria that includes relevance to event themes, quality, uniqueness, presentation, the order in which they are received.

Marci Holcomb and Austin Jordan of Sputnik Housewares have come on board as Vendor Coordinators for the 2014 season. This dynamic team has been vending their vintage tiki-themed housewares at Tiki Kon and other events for years, and they bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise.

Now in its 12th year, Tiki Kon began as a private home bar crawl and has grown to become the Northwest’s most enjoyable tiki weekender. Each year in July, enthusiastic tiki fans converge to socialize, dance, party, shop, indulge and celebrate their love of tropical climates, Hawaiian shirts, cocktails and music. It's three days of music, fashion, art, dance, classic cars, vendors, seminars, cocktails, parties and more. Tickets go on sale in Spring, 2014.
